Is it safe to delete the files Unclutter finds?

Yes. Cleanup only targets files that macOS itself treats as safe to remove: cache files, log files, temporary files, and orphaned data from uninstalled apps. It never deletes user documents, system-critical files, or application binaries. Recover Files in Unclutter Pro is separate and read-only; it copies selected files into an export folder without moving or deleting the originals.

Can Unclutter find lost files?

Recover Files is designed to find files that still exist somewhere on your Mac, in app libraries, Messages attachments, Trash, personal folders, or mounted drives. It does not perform raw disk undelete or recover data that has been overwritten. When it finds candidates, it copies selected files into a recovery folder and can include SHA-256 hashes, a manifest, a search summary, and optional video contact sheets.

Does Unclutter send my data anywhere?

By default, Unclutter runs entirely on your Mac. The app does not upload file contents, recovery exports, or cleanup results to our servers. License validation and update checks contact unclutter.sh. If you add your own AI API key, AI Review can send file metadata such as paths, sizes, and dates to that provider; file contents are not sent.
